This group of men supports the spiritual health of the church.
Working under the direction of the Pastor, the Elders watch over the congregation's members to keep informed of concerns, troubles, and joys. While not trained counselors, these men are trusted friends of the families they serve and are respected for the help and support they provide.
The Elders may also be called on to provide a "second set of eyes" on issues that may be challenging the church. They are also accountable to review the Pastor's performance and support him in developing and achieving goals for his role as Shepherd of First Lutheran.
First Evangelical Lutheran Church is a member of the California-Nevada-Hawaii District of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, a family of congregations focused on bringing Christ to the nations and sharing His unconditional saving Love within our community. |
